Swarovski Celebrates 120 Years with Book Launch and Dazzling Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Display

This year marks the 120th anniversary of the luxurious crystal jewelry line, Swarovski. In celebration of the milestone and in collaboration with the Parsons School of Design, Swarovski’s own Nadja Swarovski sat down with Bergdorf Goodman’s Senior Vice President Linda Fargo, and fashion designer and CEO Naeem Khan, to talk about the brand’s legacy and history of creative collaborations. Moderating the event was Fashionfiler’s Fashion News Director, Eric Wilson.

“Swarovski has quite an incredible role in fashion history—far more than you might imagine. There are an incredible amount of collaborations that have occurred through 12 decades of really incredible manufacturing and innovation,” Wilson said.

For years, big name fashion designers, such as Jimmy Choo and Alexander McQueen, have partnered with Swarovski to enhance their creative expression, and give their creations an added element of shimmer and shine that only Swarovski crystals can provide.

“It’s been a 120-year journey,” said Swarovski. “That’s been one big motivation for me, knowing how hard we’ve worked, I wanted the world to know about the crystal. And so, that’s been a big part of my initiative working in this company. We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many cutting edge designers, which helped us to reposition the product back to the forefront of fashion.”

Founded in Austria in 1895, Swarovski has been known through the years for making high-quality crystal jewelry, accessories, and decorative home items. Today, Swarovski’s global reach has allowed for millions of people around the world to get their hands on the line’s fashionable jewelry and evening bags. And, this holiday season, those who find themselves peeking in the extravagant window displays at Bergdorf Goodman’s in New York City will be dazzled by the brilliant themed Swarovski-embellished display (below).
