Religious beliefs aside, fans of The O.C. will attest to the pure magic that is Chrismukkah. Not only does the hybrid celebration (a portmanteau of “Christmas” and “Hanukkah”) have twice the resistance of any normal holiday—it makes miracles happen every year. So when we spoke with Rachel Bilson on Monday, we had to inquire about her December plans with her husband, Hayden Christensen, and 2-year-old daughter, Briar, and whether they include both Jesus and Moses.
“Growing up, I did experience both [holidays],” she said. “My dad still celebrated Christmas, but I would do Passover with his side of the family. too. Now, we spend the holidays in Toronto where Hayden’s from. We’re starting to teach Briar the traditions that we had ourselves, and it’s been really fun to watch her experience everything for the first time.” As for the increasing popularity of the bi-religious holiday since the beloved series went off-air? “We can thank Seth Cohen for that,” she said with a laugh.

Another way Bilson is getting into the holiday spirit is by giving back. The actress partnered with eBay for Charity’s Giving Tuesday Shop, which offers hundreds of items and experiences, including a personal styling session with Bilson, that benefits a charity of your choosing. “I’m a big fan of giving back, especially during a time of year when you’re giving so much to people,” she said. “When there’s a philanthropic element added to a gift, it’s even more awesome.” The egg nog and latkes can wait.
