Kristin Cavallari Would Let Her Kids Do a Reality Show—Under One Condition

As Laguna Beach fans well know, Kristin Cavallari did not have a typical high school experience. The former reality TV star, who’s now a mother of three, was thrust into the limelight at the young age of 16, and all run-of-the-mill teenage activities—prom, spring break, graduation—were heavily documented with a camera crew and a fleet of producers. “When you’re 16, you don’t know what’s good for you and what’s not,” Cavallari told us yesterday at Young Living’s holiday pop-up shop in downtown New York City. “You probably don’t until you’re 18 either … I probably didn’t until I was 26.”

So, we had to ask: If Cavallari’s kids (Camden, 4, Jaxon, 2, and Saylor, 1) were offered a reality TV show, would she let them do it? “Not until they’re 18—then they can make their own decisions,” she said. “I think it should be a law that you have to be 18 to do a reality show. I want my kids to be kids; I want them to live a normal life. High school is hard enough, let alone having cameras in your face. If they want to pursue a career in entertainment and a reality show happens to be the first thing they do, so be it—as long as they’re out of the house and old enough to make their own decisions!”
